Michigan judges follow sentencing guidelines, though may disagree

Attempted burglary in Lansing lands juvenile in detention

According to the Michigan Department of Human Services, the age at which a juvenile comes of age depends upon the context. A child can become "emancipated" at any time between the ages of 16 and 18 years of age. Automatic emancipation occurs at 18 and the legal drinking age is 21. For criminal matters, a person can be tried as an adult if he or she is 17 years old.

Felony sex charges filed against Lansing man

Lansing's River Trail is a popular biking route for young and old alike and stretches from Jolly Road to Old Town. It was along the bike path on a Sunday afternoon that a woman paused to take a rest and sit on one of the benches. Another biker joined her -- not an uncommon event among veteran bikers.
