Ex-girlfriend accuses Lansing man of holding her against her will

A man from Lansing, Michigan, was arraigned earlier this week on multiple charges, including assault with a dangerous weapon, related to the alleged captivity of his ex-girlfriend. The woman accused the 31-year-old man of not letting her leave his house for three days.

The incident came about after the 21-year-old woman ended a relationship with the man. She had lived with him previously in his Lansing home and had asked him to pick her up so that she could retrieve some of her belongings from the house.

Instead, according to the woman, she was held against her will for three days until she was able to escape. The woman then gave police a description of her ex-boyfriend's car, and they pulled the vehicle over shortly thereafter. The man allegedly got out of the car and ran away. Police arrested him after setting up a perimeter around the area.

The man now faces a litany of charges, including felony firearm charges, assault with a dangerous weapon, unlawful imprisonment and being a habitual offender. The woman did not tell police that she was sexually assaulted, but she did suffer minor injuries as a result of the incident.

The man was being held on bond of $35,000. According to court records, he was also wanted on two outstanding domestic violence warrants. While the charges against him are indeed serious, and the man does have a criminal history, there are two sides to every story. The Lansing man will still have an opportunity to present his side of the case in court.
