Additional sex abuse charges against former Penn State assistant football coach

We have watched the sex abuse scandal unfold over the past few weeks against former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.  On November 5, 2011, Mr. Sandusky was charged with 40 counts of child molestation.  On December 7, 2011, he was arrested and arraigned on new charges, including involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children and corruption of minors.  If convicted on some or all of these charges, it is probable that Mr. Sandusky will receive a lengthy prison sentence, probably spending the remainder of his life in jail.

An individual who has been accused of sex abuse against minors should retain an attorney to assist him/her throughout the complex legal process he/she will encounter, including during the pre-charge or investigation phase.  If he/she accepts responsibility, an attorney can attempt to negotiate a reduction of the charges as well as a shorter term of imprisonment.  Innocent clients need the assistance of an aggressive attorney to begin assembling evidence for the defense while simultaneously arranging for a polygraph and psychological testing in an effort to stop an investigation before a charge is filed or to stop a court case before a trial commences.
