When a college student faces criminal charges of any kind, there are other punishments that may result besides charges being issued. Such punishments may include possible suspension and/or expulsion from the University and, if the student is an athlete, potential suspension from the athletic team and loss of scholarship.
A Michigan State University freshman student faces the possiblity of being charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct - Third Degree, for his alleged sexual involvement with a 13-year old girl. The suspect is a member of the MSU track and field and cross country teams, but has been suspended after the coaching staff learned of his possible CSC charges. The suspect's coach is under the impression that the suspect is still attending classes.
